A check revealed that the pensioner would have actually only had to pay €65 for the period from August to October. It is assumed that the mistake was due to a faulty meter or an error in the readings.
The water supplier has already apologised to the family and promised to refund the overpayment.
The victim’s son, after receiving the staggering water bill, sent the company pictures of the meters showing his mother’s actual water consumption. However, the company’s employees did not even reply to him. Now the relatives intend to go to court to compensate for the moral damage caused by the businessmen’s negligence.
