An 88-year-old resident of the Italian town of Camporosso ended up in the intensive care unit. She could not recover from the shock of receiving a clearly inflated water bill of 15,339 euros from the water company, Blick magazine writes.
The family is currently considering legal action against the utility company. This story should not be repeated, according to the victim’s relatives.
The daughter-in-law opened the mail for the elderly lady and read her the bill. Half of the amount had already been transferred because she had authorised the collection. This put the woman in such a state of agitation that she was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The condition of the patient continues to remain critical.
